are kids easier to change than adults?

Do Kids or Adults Change More Easily?

Recently we had a client ask, “Is it easier to help kids, or adults?” My answer, “It depends.”

Why?

It depends on what event derailed the movement and regulation continuum, and when in time the derailment happened.

Like the trains our children play with, a train on tracks is a useful metaphor to explain this derailment:

  • Did it jump the tracks and needs help getting back on track?
  • Did it end up on the wrong track blindly going on its way toward a different destination? or
  • Is it stuck in a web of various tracks going multiple directions?

Still Recovering from a Surgery or Medical Procedure?

Recent Surgical Procedure?

recovering from knee surgeryWe have many clients who are finally able to get their Covid delayed procedures done, or have had test results requiring new procedures. Knees, hips, biopsies, moles, shoulders and feet. Oh my!

Being such a timely topic, post-surgical support will be the focus for our quarterly professional BridgingĀ® learning event next week. The case study being discussed follows a client over the first three weeks post-op from her knee replacement. (photo shows day 13 and Day 17)

How can Bridging help your post-op recovery?

using Bridging Technique for post-op recovery

  • Reduce swelling and discomfort
  • Faster healing
  • Clear discomfort of compensations
  • Ease of movement

How? The tiny movements we use allow the micro-vasculature to re-establish their network. This microscopic capillary and lymphatic system is crucial for bringing in nutrients to heal, and taking away the damaged cellular waste.

As the swelling goes down movement is more comfortable and free. (photo is 3.5 weeks post- knee repair)

What timing is best?

There are distinct phases of help for post-operative support. (photo shows before/after swelling change of 3.5 weeks post-scoped knee.)
knee surgery recovery

  • Week 1: restore adjacent movement better support the traumatized zone.
  • Week 2-6: Reintegrate subtle multi-directional movement. Clear compensatory movements.
  • Week 6+: Reintegrate complex movement to the traumatized area, and begin to increase resistance/strength.

Pain, Anxiety and Balance Concerns? Consider a Virtual Session

Virtual session for adults – What’s different?

From a client’s wife in Kansas City, MO –

“He was moving much better during our walk that followed your session. He walked more quickly as well.

Cara easily navigated us through simple movements virtually. These movements resulted in more fluidity and flexibility for his body after a debilitating illness that left him very weak and de-conditioned.”

From Cara –

“This client was very active before a series of medical issues a year ago. The many procedures upset the ability of his core to be centered and to rotate easily with everyday life transitions such as sit to stand, walking, and stairs. His body’s disorganization also left him generally fatigued. The medical support kept him alive, but his quality of life needed a boost.

We met three times virtually where I guided his wife through a series of movements to center his core organization and re-establish specific attributes of core movement and control. He is now back to his active life!”Ā  Read more

What Does a Virtual Session Look Like?

Virtual session for your kids: What does it look like?

From a mom from Southern California-

“Charles has made so much improvement- so grateful for your help.

He was so much more regulated after the session and he’s jumping for the first time! Those are the major noticeable changes – but I can go on and on.

Thank you again.”
